One Month Anniversary

Today is one month since I arrived in China. To celebrate, I taught five hours of English, then hung out with some friends at my Chinese neighbor Tao’s apartment. He runs a photography/video business, and mostly does weddings. My friend Yan Ling works for him, which is how I met her. All the employees and the owner are between 18 and 23 years old! His dog Simba is cute, but she doesn’t care much for me.

I left them to pump up at the gym for a few hours, ending up only with a shirt soaked through with sweat and sore muscles. I went to a street vendor and bought fried rice and steamed buns for 4rmb ($0.75).

Something interesting occurred to me: every time I am living or traveling outside of America, I try EVERYTHING I would never eat in America. In the states I’d eat tons of fruits and barely any meat or vegetables. Here I mostly eat vegetables, rice, noodles, and meat! For breakfast I had white rice with beef, eggs, tomatoes, and some other vegetables. For dinner I’m having fried rice with greens, eggs, and some other things I’m unsure about.
