T Minus 3 Days
I received the visa this morning and booked the flight. I’m feeling nervous, anxious, and excited all at the same time! I don’t know what to expect, even though I’ve heard different things from different people, so I’ve decided to suspend all my thoughts and go see for myself!
I’ve heard bad things about my school, so I’m hoping this isn’t the case, and if it is, I’ll be prepared to resolve the situation. I’m in the process of searching for a job for a friend of mine who wants to live and work near me, however he currently has a job in another city in China.
That’s all for now, next post will be next week after I’ve arrived. See ya then!
Visa Time!
Huge update for you guys. The SAFEA Bureau in China has processed my documents and given them back to the agency in China. They in turn have mailed me the documents and i am awaiting them here. My visa application is all filled out and ready to be mailed off once the documents arrive!
Even bigger update: I received the documents in the mail from China yesterday morning, so I rushed to the post office to mail them out to the consulate in Texas. The thing about China is that they only have 5 consulates in America, none of which are remotely close to me. In addition, any visa applications mailed directly to the Consulate will be thrown out, as they don’t have time for that. As a result of this terrible organization, people must hire a third party living in the city of the consulate to bring the application in your stead, for a fee of course. I ended up paying:
- Price of the Visa: $150
- Price of the 3rd party: $50
- Price of shipping to the 3rd party: $5
- Price of the shipping from 3rd party back to me: $21
- 3% surcharge from the 3rd party: $4

Total = $230 for a Visa
Donate to the Cause
I know that our economy is in shambles, that we’ve all lost faith and hope in the democratic system, but this cause is different. This is the greatest cause there could ever be: providing aid to those who were affected by the Sichuan earthquake. The current death toll is above 70,000 and rising.
